So Much Time!

It takes a lot of time to get these books listed.  Is it worth it?

So far, not even one of the book I've listed has sold.  I'm relisting them for next-to-nothing.

Perhaps it is easier and more sensible to just give them away, but there's this part of me that say, No!  These are old books!  There's got to be someone out there who wants them!

I'm putting a bag of VHS cassettes together to donate to the Stratford Library's book sale.  And I've got a few other things to Freecycle.

I should just focus on clearing out our house so we can breathe.

HOW TO BE YOUR OWN DECORATOR by Helen Koues

I'm pretty surprised I've gotten so many books up already.  Now if I can only sell a few!

Next up...

HOW TO BE YOUR OWN DECORATOR by Helen Koues

Illustrated

NY: Good Housekeeping, 1926.

First Edition, stated.

An okay hardcover. Book is bowed and there’s discoloring on the cover; it looks like it got wet. But the inside is beautiful, barely looks read.

Martin’s Equation Tables for Averaging Accounts 1854

Okay...

The Publisher: Erastus Darrow & Brother, 1854

Collectible, okay condition.  But very cool--1854, Fifth Edition!

HB in okay condition with wear.  It looks like mold on the cover and the pages have brown spotting.

A reminder to all: I'm not a professional book seller.

These books are from my basement.

I describe them as best I can and offer them at great prices because my family is overwhelmed by stuff!

The Lily of Israel: The Life of the Blessed Virgin

I'm having a hard time getting my photos to upload to blogger.  I'm not sure why.

Anyway, I got book number three up on ebay.

I am wondering why my mom and Marc didn't put their books up like this.  I would have helped them.  I even mentioned it to them, but maybe they thought it would be to much work.

Of course, I'm realizing I don't know anything about selling antique books.  I'm doing my pricing by trying to find other people who have sold the same books and then offering mine for less.

And I know there's a fine art to describing the condition.  I'm simply doing my best with that, too.

Gosh, life has such a learning curve.

Cowboys and Indians--A Giant Little Golden Book

Another book up on ebay!

Cowboys and Indians--A Giant Little Golden Book from 1958.

I'm so proud.  But I need to get faster at this proces, much faster.

I realize there's a learning curve for everything, but this seems like a lot of work for not a lot of even guaranteed money.

A.A. Milne, Now We Are Six

Yes!  After an hour and a half on the phone with the scanner people, our scanner is up and working.  And yes!  After all that time, someone else got on the phone and said, "Turn it off and on again."

And yes!  Then it worked!

Wow, so many exclamation marks...

To jump kick cleaning up this house, I have done it.  I have listed our first book on Ebay.

Please feel to jump right in and be our first buyer.

We're Back?

For those of you who thought the boxes in our home won...you were right!

The task was so daunting that we became overwhelmed and yes, quit the project.

But here I am again. Once more prepared to tackle our home of stuff.

And while this site will still be called five boxes, I believe I will start smaller. Let's say...one box!

My idea is to focus on books and to begin selling them on Ebay.

So if you see anything interesting, a link will be provided to make the desired item yours!

And, of course, my husband and I will share all our confused and conflicted thoughts of getting rid of our "stuff"!
